BMI TABLE
For those who are wondering what your Body Mass Index (BMI) is, I have posted the BMI Table for men. If you click on the table it will expand.
THE FIRST WEEK
Week one is complete and approximately 2 pounds were lost – a good start. This past week, to help me along on my weight loss, I stopped eating snacks at work. A task that was as difficult as I anticipated.
Judy (my enabling secretary) stocks her candy bowl daily with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey Bars, and other goodies. I once read a statistic that the person in the office with a candy bowl on their desk gets higher then normal raises. If that is the case Judy is likely rich.
In addition, I planned to get the running shoes out again. This happened once last week. The 90+ degree temperatures stifled any attempt at running. I did though get in a game of golf and 2 hour walk on Saturday morning. Both were ridiculously hot.
This week I plan the same as the last -with a few more attempts at aerobic exercise.

THE OTHERS
At our family reunion, this past weekend, my father attempted to recruit as many family members as possible to join in on our goal to become Normal Weight. To protect the inocent, I do not plan to call them out by name - they all had varying levels of needed weight loss. There are now a total of 6 of us family members in this challenge. I will try to keep track of their losses as well and point out any victories in the battle of the bulge. For added incentive there has been a wager made of $50 per person to acheive our goal of being Normal Weight.
To the right is a picture of my family from this weekend. The three men are all participants. From left to right: myself, my father and my uncle
THE GRAPH
This is the Graph I hope to update a minimum of weekly. It shows my own weight loss along with theoretical rate for achieving my goal. I am sure there will be up and downs but hopefully I will meet my goal.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this BLOG is to document the weight loss progress as my father, uncle and I as we attempt to obtain our "Normal BMI". This has been a challenge from my father and uncle as we are all within a few pounds of being obese. We all are attempting to achieve this same goal (normal BMI) by June of next year (2007). I personally need to loose nearly 40 lbs. That makes the challenge 40 lbs in 40 weeks hence the name of the blog. I hope to talk about what is working and what is not working and plot the progress of our work
